Leaving Certificate Applied Programme
The L.C.A has been established by the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment. This programme has been taught in our school for the past number of years. The fundamental goal of the L.C.A. is to prepare students for the transition from the world of school to that of adult working life. The L.C.A. focuses on the needs and interests of students using a wide range of teaching methodologies. It is a two year modular vocational programme, subjects include;
- English & Communication
- Vocational Preparation
- Social Education
- Hotel & Catering
- Graphics & Construction Studies
- European Language
- Leisure and Recreation and Active Leisure Studies.
- Career Guidance
- Art & Craft
- Work Experience
Our L.C.A programme promotes self esteem, independence, co-operation, teamwork, responsibility, problem solving and decision making. Many of our students who have completed the Leaving Certificate programme have continued their education in Post Leaving Certificate courses and others have obtained employment.
